As promised a couple of posts ago, I am sharing some of the hot spots I discovered on my recent trip to Barcelona and some tips on what to do.

The city is amazing, so it is hard to cover everything and since you will surely find many guides that tell you to visit the highlights of the city: Basilica of the Sagrada familia, Montjuic, Las Ramblas, Park Guel, etc.,( and you should surely do so) I am just going to concentrate on the alternative options and the food and drinks 🙂

Stroll around the city:
Barcelona streets have a lot of charm, you can easily spend hours just looking at the architecture and visiting the many cool vintage clothing stores, boutiques, coffee places and bars. My favourite neighbourhoods are El Gotic and El born.

You can find many galleries and a lot of cool street art in these areas. Don’t you love how Frida looks here? The author of this piece is a pretty famous guy who’s art has been showcased alongside great masters such as Andy Warhol! If you want to know more about him just google TVBOY. I love the humour in his art.

Come, bebe que la vida es breve:

Leave the diet for when your holiday is over. Just eat and drink. Have some tapas and cava in a place and then move to the next one, and then the next one.

Yes, I know what you are thinking, having tacos in Barcelona? …sorry, not sorry. Go to Carabela Caf’é to have some fun in the sun and super yummy tacos, nachos and salads.

I did have some tapas 🙂

But for sure the best ones I had were at two not very traditional places:

As the name indicates, they give a gourmet twist to the traditional tapas. Everything is delicious and the ambience is perfect for a date if you are travelling with your beloved one but good for groups as well. Great music, nice decor, good wine. I need no more, Do you?

And at Robadora

You will find this restaurant in El Raval area. If you like industrial style, innovative food and a laid back enviroment this place is for you. Super creative, sexy menu, cocktails, alternative vibe. A must go place for a fun night.

Rent a bike

Barcelona is pretty friendly with cyclists, it is not Amsterdam but you can bike to many places safetly and if the weather is good it is a very enjoyable activity.

Go to the beach

Go to the flea market (Vintage/second hand shopping):

Do you love vintage shopping as much as I do? Then take the time to go to Les Encants, it is a bit out of the way but worth the while. You can find about anything, it will take you some time though. Tip: bargain! It is fun and the vendors are great negotiators. Do you feel happy whenever you are in front of a pile of clothes and you are ready to dig in until you find that special piece, a treasure that no body else will have? Call me, I will go flea market shopping with you any time. 🙂

Uff, many more things to do and mention! But the rest is for you to discover. Let me know when you are there, I’d love to hear your suggestions. I already have plans to go to Barcelona in the fall. Can’t wait to be there again.

Have a great week!
